VSTE 2006 Claymation – I attended this workshop and it was SUPER! If you haven’t attempted Claymation it is not as daunting as it sounds. It took just 30 minutes to create a simple character, shoot 8 pictures, and then another few to put them into Windows Movie Maker. I talked with my Art teacher and the best course of action for our school will be to start with the Computer Club members and the lower grades. The one character and a story for the lower grades (from their site) is best for the little ones. The presentation was done by Henrico County, Jill Baedke and Jennifer Barnett. Their website link was: http://staffdev.henrico.k12.va.us/~baedkecj/claymation/indexc.html
Making Social Science Come Alive in the Third Grade! Stephanie Cotsifas, Rohoic ES, Dinwiddie County. http://www.vste.org/conference/virtual_conference/index.html
This was a reaffirmation of what we do in VBCPS but it also had some new ideas with some of our programs (inspiration, kidspiration) They use a lot of self-checking sheets, excel, that were good for the lower grades and may be good for computer stations in the upper grades. This county/person presented at 2005 and it is located through the VSTE conference site (see Below).
Curriculum Wiki-Wiki – by John Hendron. While the actual presentation was over some items that we may never use the concept is great. Using a Wiki to exchange information. His web site also has a lot of valuable information and links : www.jhendron.net
